Introduction - From the Habitat For Horses

"Let me make a more formal introduction of Denise Hughes, if I may. A couple of weeks ago, I was urged to contact Denise through a mutual friend, a guy that doesn't care for shaving or haircuts and travels around a lot singing songs and playing his guitar. Folks call him Willie and quite some time ago he joined our Board of Directors and said he wanted to foster horses at his little town of Luck, TX. Willie got a couple of handfuls of horses and decided that he didn't want to adopt any of them out. Instead he wanted to keep all of them, which kinda' put a kink in our "Willie Nelson Signature Series Horses."

If you notice, Denise's place is called Luck Farms, and that isn't just coincidental. Willie thought it would be a good place from which to once again start the "Willie Nelson Signature Series" adoption program, which is why I flew over and visited her, along with Chris Dunn from Florida. Luck Farms (http://www.luckfarms.com) is a little piece of heaven - hundreds of acres of pasture, riding trails that go everywhere, all sorts of barns and arenas and long fences made from split telephone poles. Denise also has a husband that seems absolutely wonderful, a cousin/partner that helps them, a couple of zebras, a donkey, lots of horses, chickens that look weird and a group of dogs that will follow you anywhere, including one little black pug that almost came home with me. We sat for hours drinking coffee and going over the paperwork while Chris figured out the best way to deliver some of the Florida horses to her. It's a relatively short 5 hour drive from Northern Florida and the first horses will be arriving in a few days.

But the good stuff continues - Denise will slowly start building up a membership base in South Carolina, adding more foster and adoption homes, to the point where HfH will be able to claim SC as one of our states! Beyond that, her husband secretly told me that Denise loves to be involved in horse chat groups, so she'll be a big time contributor here. She knows horses, and even better, her philosophy parallels our own. Please welcome her with open arms. She's now part of the family."
